Thick Beaded Bling Dog Lead: Project Instructions

Posted by Eureka! Beads on 28th Mar 2019

Change it up by creating this stunning beaded dog lead - we've used large hole beads to really set it off. Follow our free instructions to learn how.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 2 large material/leather crimps
  • 1 metre 8mm flat suede
  • 1 large swivel parrot clasp
  • 6 pink large holed glass beads
  • 6 aqua large holed glass beads

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • 2 pairs of Crimping Pliers

INSTRUCTIONS

Pick up a large material/leather crimp and thread onto the end of the suede. Whilst it's still open, make a loop with the suede (approximately 25cm in size) and thread the suede back through the large crimp. Crimp both sides down, pressing down hard to secure the crimp.

Leave a gap of about 7cm, then thread on 3 large hole glass beads. You may need to curl the suede a little to fit the beads on - this ensures that once they're in place they won't slide out of place.

Leave a gap of about 12cm and repeat the above, alternating colours if desired.

Once you have enough sets of beads on your lead, leave a gap of about 14cm and cut off any excess suede. Thread on the second large crimp, followed by the large swivel parrot clasp. Thread the end of the suede back through the large crimp, making sure that the very end of the suede is hidden under the crimp. Crimp both sides down, pressing down hard to secure the crimp.

Your beautiful beaded bling dog lead is now ready to use on your favourite pooch - whether for a dog show or just to show off on your walk around the block, these popular leads look great!
