Black Fan Chain Necklace: Project Instructions
Our 5 strand ancient fan drop pieces lend themselves well to this necklace - with a hole up the top and five at the bottom, plenty of room to hang drops from! Follow our pattern to find out how to make it yourself.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
- 1 parrot clasp
- 11 x 6mm strong jump rings
- 20 x 3mm plain metal beads
- 5 eye pins
- 5 head pins
- 1 ancient fan drop
- 10 x 6mm bicone glass crystals
- 2 x 22cm pieces of medium heavy oval loop chain, 2 x 27cm pieces of medium heavy oval loop chain
TOOLS REQUIRED
- Crimping Pliers
- Wire Cutters
- Twirly Wirlies
INSTRUCTIONS
The drops
Thread onto a head pin:
- a plain metal bead
- a 6mm bicone glass bead
- a plain metal bead
Leaving a space of 10mm, cut the excess off the head pin. Twirl the end using your twirly wirlies. Put aside. Repeat this process until you have 5 head pins.
Thread onto an eye pin:
- a plain metal bead
- a 6mm bicone glass bead
- a plain metal bead
Leaving a space of 10mm, cut the excess off the head pin. Twirl the end using your twirly wirlies. Put aside. Repeat this process until you have 5 eye pins.
Open up one of the loops on one of the eye pins. Thread through the loop in the top of one of the head pins. Close the loop securely. Repeat this process until you have 5 drops.
The necklace
Open up one of the strong jump rings. Thread through the top hole in the ancient fan drop. Whilst it is open, also thread it through the end of one of the shorter lengths of chain. Close securely. Open up another jump ring and also thread it through the top hole in the ancient fan drop. Whilst it is open, also thread it through the end of the second shorter length of chain. Close securely.
Open up another strong jump ring. Thread through the far right hole in the bottom of the ancient fan drop. Whilst it is open, also thread it through the end of one of the longer lengths of chain. Close securely. Open up another jump ring, and thread it through the far left hole in the bottom of the ancient fan drop. Whilst it is open, also thread it through the end of the second longer length of chain. Close securely.
Open up another jump ring. Thread it through the end of the shorter length of chain on the right hand side. Whilst it is still open, also thread it through the longer length of chain on the right hand side. Close securely.
Open up another jump ring. Thread it through the end of the shorter length of chain on the left hand side. Whilst it is still open, also thread it through the longer length of chain on the left hand side. Whilst it is still open, also thread on the parrot clasp. Close securely.
Open up another jump ring. Thread it through the far left hole in the bottom of the ancient fan drop. Whilst it is still open, also thread on one of the drops created earlier. Close securely. Repeat this process with the 4 other drops, threading each one through a different hole in the bottom of the ancient fan drop. Your necklace is now ready to wear!
