Blue Mirage Necklace: Project Instructions
How to Make a Stunning Blue Glass Bead Necklace with Pendant – DIY Jewellery Project
Create your own beautiful statement necklace using shimmering blue glass beads, elegant metal accents, and a striking freeform foil glass pendant. This beginner-friendly jewellery project uses tigertail wire, crimps, and classic beading techniques. Perfect for gifts or your own collection!
MATERIALS REQUIRED (makes an approx. 47cm necklace)
- 60cm tigertail
- 2 small tube crimps
- 2 x 6mm strong jump rings
- 2 large spiky decorative metal beads
- 24 blue 11mm diamond glass beads
- 30 small barrel crown metal beads
- 7 blue 12mm flat rectangle glass beads
- 1 blue large freeform foil glass pendant
- 1 parrot clasp
TOOLS REQUIRED
- Wire Cutters
- 2 x Crimping Pliers
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Attach Jump Ring
Thread one crimp onto the tigertail, then add a jump ring. Loop the wire back through the crimp. Pull tight and crimp it securely. Trim any excess wire. Slide on one large spiky decorative metal bead to cover the crimp.
Step 2: Bead the Necklace – First Half
Follow this sequence:
- 1 x blue diamond bead
- 1 x barrel crown metal bead
(Repeat this sequence 3 times) - 1 x flat rectangle bead
- 1 x barrel crown metal bead
Tip: You can follow our suggested pattern or mix the beads randomly for a more eclectic, one-of-a-kind look.
Step 3: Repeat the Pattern
Repeat the above sequence 4 times, pausing at the halfway point to thread on your pendant. Make sure it's centred before continuing.
Step 4: Bead the Necklace – Second Half
Mirror the bead pattern from the first half.
Step 5: Finish the Necklace
Add a final large spiky metal bead. Then thread on the second crimp, followed by the second jump ring. Loop the wire back through the crimp, pull tight, and crimp securely. Use pliers to open the jump ring and attach the parrot clasp.
