- 18 x 8mm grey purple glass pearl beads
- 18 x 10mm grey purple glass pearl beads
- 126 x 6mm strong jump rings (about 15 grams)
- 162 head pins (about 22 grams)
- 1 parrot clasp
TOOLS REQUIRED
- Twirly Wirlie Pliers
- Wire Cutters
- 2 pairs of Crimping Pliers
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Note: these quantities make a 45cm necklace. To make a longer necklace, simply add more beads. Our necklace was made with black coloured findings.
Glass Pearl Dangles
Take a head pin and thread up with:
- a glass pearl
Leaving a space of 10mm, cut the excess off the head pin. Twirl the end using your twirly wirlies. Repeat with all of the glass pearl beads (so that you have 162 altogether). Put aside.
Creating the chains
Open up one of the jump rings. As they are quite strong, you will need to use two sets of pliers or a pair of crimping pliers and a jump ring tool. Join the first jump ring to a second jump ring and close securely. Open another jump ring and add it on to one end of the joined rings. Close securely. Continue until you have one chain of 29 jump rings.
Make another chain of 34 jump rings and put the two chains aside.
Creating the frothy front
Open up another jump ring. Whilst it is open, thread on three glass pearls, making sure that you use only one of each colour/size. Close securely. Open up another jump ring and attach two glass pearls (using different size/colours). Attach to the first jump ring and close securely. Repeat this process joining on to the chain until you have a chain of 63 jump rings with 2 - 3 dangles on each. Make sure that you retain one glass pearl dangle for the back of the necklace.
Joining Together
Open up one end of the 29 link chain and join to one end of the frothy front. Open the other end of the 29 link chain and attach the parrot clasp.
Open one end of the 34 link chain and attach to the other end of the frothy front. Open the other end of the 34 link chain and attach the last dangle to the end. Your frothy glass pearl necklace is ready to wear.
