Green and Black Crystal Chain Drop Necklace: Project Instructions
Green and black AB crystals make this necklace sparkle! We have changed things up, and used the toggle clasp at the front; this serves two purposes - it looks great as a focal, and makes the necklace easier to do up!
MATERIALS REQUIRED
- 38 x 9mm helix glass crystals
- 1 heart toggle clasp
- 7 strong jump rings
- 60cm tigertail
- 1 x 25mm chain, 1 x 40mm chain
- 2 filigree metal tubes
- 20 x 8mm rondelle glass crystal beads
- 17 wide daisy spacer metal beads
- 2 head pins
- 2 small star bead caps
- 2 small crimps
TOOLS REQUIRED
- Crimping Pliers
- Wire Cutters
- Twirly Wirlies
INSTRUCTIONS
The Pattern
(you'll need this for most of the necklace)
- a helix crystal bead
- an 8mm rondelle glass crystal bead
- a helix crystal bead
- a wide daisy spacer
The main part of the necklace
Pick up the 60cm strand of tigertail. Thread on a small crimp, a jump ring, then thread back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off any excess tigertail. Thread on a filigree metal tube. Then thread on the pattern (as above) 17 times, so you have a total of 17 wide daisy spacer beads.
Then thread on:
- a helix crystal bead
- an 8mm rondelle glass crystal bead
- a helix crystal bead
Finally, thread on a filigree metal tube, followed by a small crimp, a jump ring, then back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off any excess tigertail.
Open up another jump ring. Thread on the bar part of the toggle clasp, then thread through one of the jump rings on the end of the strand. Close securely. Open the jump ring on the other end of the strand, thread on the heart part of the toggle clasp (thread through the loop at the top of the heart) and close securely.
The Drops
Pick up one of the head pins. Thread on:
- an 8mm rondelle glass crystal bead
- a helix crystal bead
- a small star bead cap
Leaving a space of 10mm, cut the excess off the head pin. Twirl the end using your twirly wirlies. Repeat this process 1 more time, so you have 2 drops.
Open up a jump ring and thread on one of the drops. Whilst it's still open, also thread on one of the lengths of chain. Close the jump ring. Open up another jump ring and attach to the other end of the chain. Repeat this process again, so that you have 2 drops attached to chain, with a jump ring on the end of each chain.
Putting it together
Open up the jump ring on the end of the first drop and thread through the heart part (the main heart) of the toggle clasp. Close securely. Repeat with the second drop. Your necklace is now ready to wear!
