Long Blue Shell Necklace: Project Instructions
A favourite pattern around Eureka! Beads, this tigertail necklace uses a toggle clasp as a centrepiece, making it much easier to do up! This necklace features copper coloured findings and grey/blue shell beads.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
- 1.2 metres tigertail
- 1 heart toggle clasp
- 7 jump rings
- 6 small crimps
- 6 filigree metal tubes
- 82 plain metal beads
- 44 x 6mm bicone glass crystals
- 21 round disc shell beads
- 20 shell cube beads
- 2 shell tear drop beads
TOOLS REQUIRED
- Crimping Pliers
- Wire Cutters
INSTRUCTIONS
Main necklace
Cut a 80cm piece of tigertail and thread on a crimp, through a jurmp ring, then back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off the excess tigertail. Open up another jump ring, thread on the bar part, and thread through your original jump ring. Close the jump ring.
Onto you tigertail, thread on the filigree metal tube. Follow with:
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal bead
- a plain metal bead
- a round disc shell bead
- a plain metal bead
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal bead
- a plain metal bead
- a shell cube bead
- a plain metal bead
Repeat this pattern 13 more times (so there are a total of 14 shell cube beads). Finish off with:
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal bead
- a plain metal bead
- a round disc shell bead
- a plain metal bead
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal bead
Thread on a crimp, followed by a filigree metal tube and a jump ring, then back through the filigree metal tube and crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off the excess tigertail. Open the jump ring up slightly, thread on the heart part of the toggle clasp and close jump ring. Put aside for the time being.
Drops
Cut off a 20cm length of tigertail. Thread on a crimp, thread through a jump ring, then back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off the excess tigertail. Thread on a filigree metal tube. Follow with:
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal bead
- a plain metal bead
- a round disc shell bead
- a plain metal bead
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal bead
- a plain metal bead
- a shell cube bead
- a plain metal bead
Repeat this pattern 3 more times (so there are a total of 4 shell cube beads). Finish off with a 6mm bicone glass crystal bead. Thread on a crimp, a filigree metal tube, a jump ring, then back through the filigree metal tube and crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off the excess tigertail. Open up the jump ring slightly and thread on one of the shell tear drop beads, then close the jump ring securely. Repeat this whole process (from 'Drops') to create another drop.
Put it together
Take the two 'drops', open the top jump rings, and attach to the heart part of the toggle clasp from the main necklace. Close the jump rings securely. Your necklace is now complete and ready to wear - to wear, simply slip the bar part of the toggle clasp through the heart part - the two drops will hang in front.
