Midnight Shine Hematine & Crystal Bracelet Tutorial

Looking for a quick, elegant bracelet project using two-hole beads and silk thread? This step-by-step tutorial will show you how to make a stunning “Midnight Shine” bracelet, featuring shimmering vitrail hematine beads and sparkly black crystal bicones. Perfect for beginners and intermediate jewellery makers alike, this design creates a sleek, woven look with minimal materials — and the finished piece looks far more complex than it is!

MATERIALS YOU'LL NEED

  • Xm of size 4 black Griffin silk thread with needle attached
  • approximately 100 x 3mm black crystal bicone beads
  • approximately 49 x two-hole vitrail hematine beads (to make a bracelet of approx. Xcm)
  • 2 x large-hole metal beads
  • 1 x magnetic clasp
  • small dab of E6000 glue or similar

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Scissors

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Create the Base Row

  1. With the needle already attached to your silk thread, begin by threading on:
    • One 3mm bicone bead
    • The left-hand hole of one two-hole hematine bead
  2. Repeat this pattern (bicone → left hole of hematine bead) until your bracelet reaches your desired length.
    • Tip: For an Xcm bracelet, we used X hematine beads.

  3. Add one final 3mm bicone bead.
  4. Thread through:
    1. One large-hole metal bead
    2. The loop on one side of your magnetic clasp
    3. Then back through the same large-hole metal bead

Pull snug to anchor the clasp.

Step 2: Complete the Top Row

  1. Continue by threading through:
    • One new 3mm bicone bead
    • The right-hand hole of the same hematine bead already on the bracelet
  2. Repeat this pattern (bicone → right hole of next hematine bead) until you’ve woven back through all the beads on the strand.
  3. Add one final 3mm bicone bead.
  4. Thread through:
    • The second large-hole metal bead
    • The loop on the other side of your magnetic clasp
    • Then back through the same large-hole metal bead

Pull tight to secure both ends.

Step 3: Secure & Finish

  1. Tie a double knot snugly at the base of the metal bead.
  2. Add a tiny dab of E6000 glue to secure the knot.
  3. Trim away any excess thread close to the knot.

Let the glue dry fully before wearing.

    And You’re Done!

Your Midnight Shine bracelet is now ready to wear — a sleek and sparkling accessory that works beautifully for day or evening looks. The clever use of two-hole hematine beads gives it a structured, elegant finish, while the silk thread keeps it flexible and lightweight.

Whether you’re making this for yourself or as a gift, it’s a stylish, eye-catching piece that comes together in under an hour.
