This step-by-step guide includes everything you need to know to complete your necklace, whether you're a seasoned beader or trying out your first statement piece.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 11 head pins
  • 24 small star bead caps
  • 12 x 8mm round faceted glass crystals
  • 29 strong jump rings
  • 3 large star bead caps
  • 3 large heart glass beads
  • 3 rope crown metal beads
  • 23 links of extra large twisted loop chain (approx 55cm)
  • 1 parrot clasp

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Crimping Pliers
  • Twirly Wirlie (round nose) Pliers
  • Wire Cutters

    STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Make the Crystal Drops (x12)

    1. On a head pin, thread:
      • 1 small star bead cap
      • 1 faceted crystal bead
      • 1 small star bead cap
    2. Trim the wire, leaving about 1cm (10mm).
    3. Use round-nose pliers to make a neat loop at the top.
    4. Add a jump ring to the loop.
    5. Add a second jump ring to the first — this adds movement.

Repeat to make 12 crystal drops total.

Step 2: Make the Heart Drops (x3)

    1. On a head pin, thread:
      • 1 large star bead cap
      • 1 heart bead (with the pointed end down)
      • 1 rope crown metal bead
    2. Trim the wire and make a loop.
    3. Add a jump ring to the loop.

Repeat to make 3 heart drops.

Now, take two individual chain links from the twisted loop chain.

    • Attach one link to the jump ring of two heart drops.
    • Leave one heart drop plain.

Call the ones with chain: Heart Drops B
Call the plain one: Heart Drop A

    Step 3: Build the Necklace

Count 21 chain links from your twisted loop chain.

Now attach your components to specific links:

    Chain Link   Add...
    4 Crystal Drop
    5 Crystal Drop
    6 Crystal Drop
7 Heart Drop B (with chain)
    8 Crystal Drop

    13 Crystal Drop
    14 Crystal Drop
15 Heart Drop B (with chain)
    16 Crystal Drop
    17 Crystal Drop
    18 Crystal Drop

    Step 4: Attach the Clasp

    • On one end of the chain, use a jump ring to attach the parrot clasp.
    • On the other end, add a jump ring for the clasp to hook into.
