Black Chain Drop Necklace: Project Instructions

Use our free beading instructions to make this fun project - we've used black beads which give the necklace a gothic look, but consider all the different colour glass pearls you could use!

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 39 x 8mm glass pearls
  • 78 thin bead caps
  • 50cm tigertail
  • 2 filigree metal tubes
  • 26 x 3mm plain metal beads
  • 2 x 6mm strong jump rings
  • 2 small crimps
  • 1 parrot clasp
  • 1m small drawn cable chain

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Crimping Pliers
  • Twirly Wirlies
  • Wire Cutters

INSTRUCTIONS

Pick up the strand of tigertail and thread on a small crimp, a jump ring, then thread back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off any excess tigertail. Thread on a filigree metal tube, followed by the first link in the chain. Then thread on:

  • a thin bead cap
  • an 8mm round glass pearl
  • a thin bead cap
  • a plain metal bead
  • a thin bead cap
  • an 8mm round glass pearl
  • a thin bead cap
  • a plain metal bead
  • a thin bead cap
  • an 8mm round glass pearl
  • a thin bead cap
  • the 20th link in the piece of chain

Repeat this pattern another twelve times, so you have thirty nine 8mm black glass pearls on your strand. Cut off any excess chain and finish by threading on a filigree metal bead, a small crimp, a jump ring, then thread back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off any excess tigertail. Open up the jump ring on one side of the necklace and thread on the parrot clasp. Close securely. Your necklace is now ready to wear!
