Cat's Red/Purple Bell Collar: Project Instructions

Cat's Red/Purple Bell Collar: Project Instructions

Cat's favourite collar, this project works with both beads and bells, ensuring your moggie doesn't get too close to the wildlife! Follow our instructions to find out how to make your own.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 40cm x 1mm clear beading elastic
  • 18 x 8mm rondelle glass crystal beads
  • 18 small purple jingle bells
  • 18 silver jingle bells
  • 18 small red jingle bells

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Wire Cutters
  • Clear Nail Polish

INSTRUCTIONS

Made with crystals, bells and elastic, this fun beaded cat collar is suitable for daytime sunbathing in the window or for long luxurious evenings spent by the open fire (but remember, collars can be dangerous if moggy plays in trees). We made our collar with red crystals (as red is Cat's fav colour), red, purple and silver bells, but any colour can be used - this pattern also looks great when made into a matching bracelet for Cat's owner! Pick up your piece of beading elastic, and tie a loose knot in one end to prevent beads falling off whilst threading up your collar.

Thread on:

  • an 8mm rondelle glass crystal
  • a purple small jingle bell
  • a silver jingle bell
  • a red small jingle bell

Repeat this pattern another 17 times, until you have eighteen 8mm rondelle glass crystals on your elastic.

Slide the beads into the centre of the elastic, and cut off the knot tied earlier. Pull the two strands together and pull up tightly, then tie a knot as if you're tying a balloon. Repeat the knot several times. Finish by adding a dab of clear nail polish or glue. Once dry, cut off any excess beading elastic. Put it on and Moggy will think she's been adopted by Paris!
