Crystal Eye Glass Brooch: Project Instructions

Crystal Eye Glass Brooch: Project Instructions

Pretty and practical - just what you need in a beaded piece! Follow our free instructions to learn how to make your own brooch, complete with a place to hang your reading glasses.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 1 looped kilt pin
  • 1 clear crystal teardrop clip charm
  • 1 clear crystal heart clip charm
  • 1 open heart clip charm (see notes)

TOOLS REQUIRED (see note)

  • Crimping Pliers
  • Wire Cutters
  • Twirly Wirlies

INSTRUCTIONS

Note: If your open heart charm is not attached to a parrot clasp, you will first need to do that (if you don't need to do this, no tools are needed for this project) - take a 6mm strong jump ring and open slightly - thread on the open heart charm and close securely. Open a second 6mm strong jump ring and open slightly - thread onto the first jump ring, and also thread on a parrot clasp, close securely. You're now ready to begin creating your brooch.

Simply pick up your clear crystal teardrop clip charm and open the attached parrot clasp. Clip onto the first loop in the looped kilt pin.

Next, pick up your open heart clip charm and open the attached parrot clasp. Clip onto the middle loop in the looped kilt pin.

Lastly, pick up your clear crystal heart clip charm and open the attached parrot clasp. Clip onto the last loop in the looped kilt pin.

Your beaded brooch is now ready to wear - pin to your top and when you no longer need to wear your glasses, slip them through the large open heart charm.

Keep in mind that you can use any charms or beads with this beaded brooch - if your charm has a loop in the top, simply use a jump ring to attach a parrot clasp. If your bead has a hole running through the centre, put the bead on a headpin, cut off any excess wire and then twirl a loop at the top. Use a jump ring to attach a parrot clasp.
