Pink Foil Tigertail Drop Necklace: Project Instructions
Unusual silver foil beads and glass crystals are featured in this necklace. We have changed things up, and used the toggle clasp at the front; this serves two purposes - it looks great as a focal, and makes the necklace easier to fasten!
MATERIALS REQUIRED
- 26 x 6mm bicone glass crystals
- 51 plain metal beads
- 13 x 8mm round faceted glass crystals
- 13 black with foil glass disc beads
- 1 x 50cm tigertail, 2 x 15cm tigertail
- 6 small crimps
- 5 jump rings
- 6 filigree metal tubes
- 1 flower toggle clasp
TOOLS REQUIRED
- Crimping Pliers
- Twirly Wirlies
- Wire Cutters
INSTRUCTIONS
The Pattern
(you'll need this for most of the necklace)
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal
- a plain metal bead
- a 8mm round faceted glass crystal
- a plain metal bead
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal
- a plain metal bead
- a black with foil glass disc bead
- a plain metal bead
The main part of the necklace
Pick up the 50cm strand of tigertail. Thread on a small crimp, a jump ring, then thread back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off any excess tigertail. Thread on a filigree metal tube. Then thread on the pattern (as above) 9 times, so you have a total of 9 foil glass disc beads.
Then thread on:
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal
- a plain metal bead
- a 8mm round faceted glass crystal
- a plain metal bead
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal
Followed by a filigree metal tube, a small crimp, a jump ring, then back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off any excess tigertail.
Open up another jump ring. Thread on the bar part of the toggle clasp, then thread through one of the jump rings on the end of the strand. Close securely. Open the jump ring on the other end of the strand, thread on the flower part of the toggle clasp (thread through the loop at the top of the flower) and close securely.
Drop 1
Take one of the 15cm pieces of tigertail. Thread on a crimp, thread through a jump ring, then back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off the excess tigertail. Thread on a filigree metal tube, a black with foil glass disc bead and a plain metal bead. Thread on the pattern (as above) once, followed by:
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal
- a plain metal bead
- a 8mm round faceted glass crystal
- a plain metal bead
- a 6mm bicone glass crystal
Finish by threading on a crimp, a filigree metal tube, a plain metal bead, then back through the filigree metal tube and crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off the excess tigertail.
Drop 2
Take the other of the 15cm pieces of tigertail. Thread on a crimp, thread through a jump ring, then back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off the excess tigertail. Thread on a filigree metal tube, a black with foil glass disc bead and a plain metal bead. Thread on the pattern (as above) once, but take off the last plain metal bead.
Finish by threading on a crimp, a filigree metal tube, a plain metal bead, then back through the filigree metal tube and crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off the excess tigertail.
Putting it together
Open up the jump ring on the end of drop 1 and thread through the flower part (the main flower) of the toggle clasp. Close securely. Repeat with drop 2. Your necklace is now ready to wear!
