With a focus to the side rather than the centre, this necklace uses red glass beads and bronze coloured chain and findings. Follow our free beading instructions to learn how to make it yourself.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
- 2 metres medium oval loop chain
- 3 links extra large twisted loop chain
- 15 strong jump rings
- 3 eye pins
- 1 flower toggle clasp
- 6 plain metal beads
- 3 x 10mm small flat oval beads
TOOLS REQUIRED
- Crimping Pliers
- Wire Cutters
- Twirly Wirlies
INSTRUCTIONS
Cut your medium oval loop chain into sections:
- one 400mm long length
- one 450mm long length
- one 550mm long length
- two 20mm long lengths
- two 40mm long lengths
Using a strong jump ring, attach one of the 40mm lengths to the flower end of the flower toggle clasp.
Pick up an eye pin and thread on one plain metal bead, one 10mm small flat oval bead and one more plain metal bead. Leave a space 10mm from the end of the beads and cut off the excess. Twirl the 10mm length to make a second eye. Repeat this process to make three of the beaded eyepins.
Detach the links of the extra large twisted loop chain so that you have three separate oval links. Open a jump ring up wide and attach through the eyepin and then around one of the extra large twisted loop chain links. Close securely. Using another jumpring attach the other side of the eyepin to the other side of the link. Do the same to the other two large links.
Open a jumpring and attach to the jumpring on the large link, then connect it to the end of the 40mm chain with the flower toggle clasp on it. Open another jumpring and pass through the jumpring on the other side of the large link. Attach this jumpring to one of the 20mm long lengths of chain. Open another jumpring and attach the 20mm length to the second large link. Repeat this process until you have 3 links with 20mm of chain in between each one.
Attach a jumpring to the end of the last large link and leave the jumpring open. Pass the open end of the jump ring through one end of the 400mm length of chain, the 450mm length of chain and the 550mm length of chain. Close the jump ring securely.
Gather the other ends of the long chains, open a jumpring, pass it through the ends, then pass it through the last 40mm length of chain. Close the jump ring securely.
Attach a jumpring on the other end of the 40mm chain and attach the bar end of the clasp to it, close securely. Your necklace is now ready to wear!
