Red Starburst Earrings: Project Instructions

Take advantage of the look of tigertail by making these starburst earrings. Featuring glass crystals, this project will reinforce crimping techniques.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 8 x 20cm tigertail
  • 2 large crimps
  • 56 small crimps
  • 2 ear wires
  • 28 x 4mm bicone glass crystals

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Crimping Pliers
  • Wire Cutters

INSTRUCTIONS

Take 4 pieces of tigertail and thread through the loop in the bottom of the ear wire. Thread the strands halfway through the loop and fold over. Thread a large crimp over all eight strands and up to the loop. Squish down the large crimp. Separate the eight strands. Cut each strand to varying lengths. On two shortest strands, thread on:

  • a small crimp (don't crimp down yet)
  • a 4mm bicone glass crystal
  • a small crimp
  • And squash the last crimp down at the end of the tigertail. On the other six strands thread on:
  • a small crimp (don't crimp down yet)
  • a 4mm bicone glass crystal
  • a small crimp (don't crimp down yet)
  • a small crimp (don't crimp down yet)
  • a 4mm bicone glass crystal
  • a small crimp

Squash the last crimp down at the end of the tigertail. Then squish down the second last crimp. Push the third last crimp halfway up the tigertail and squish down. Squish down the first crimp. Repeat to make the second earring.
