Sweetheart Spiral Earrings: Project Instructions
These romantic earrings combine fuchsia pink sparkle, creamy diamond glass beads, and warm copper tones into a beautiful swirling design. In this easy tutorial, you’ll learn how to make Sweetheart Spiral Earrings using simple wirework techniques and basic tools. They’re a lovely handmade gift—or the perfect treat for yourself!
MATERIALS REQUIRED
- 2 eye pins
- 4 x 7mm fuchsia pink bicone glass beads
- 4 wide daisy spacer beads
- 2 x 11mm opaque cream diamond-shaped glass beads
- 10cm of 20 gauge fuchsia beading wire (5cm per earring)
- 2 ear wires
TOOLS REQUIRED
- Twirly Wirlie pliers (round-nose pliers)
- Wire cutters
- Crimping pliers
- Electrical tape (optional – see tip below)
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Create the Main Beaded Component
- Take one eye pin.
- Slide on the following beads in this order:
- 1 x 7mm bicone bead
- 1 x wide daisy spacer
- 1 x 11mm diamond bead
- 1 x wide daisy spacer
- 1 x 7mm bicone bead
- Using your wire cutters, trim the remaining wire on the eye pin, leaving about 10mm of space above the last bead.
- Use your twirly wirlie pliers to make a neat loop at the trimmed end. Set aside.
Step 2: Make the Fuchsia Wire Spiral
- Cut a 5cm length of your 20g beading wire.
- With your twirly wirlie pliers, curl one end tightly to make the smallest loop possible.
- Grip the loop with crimping pliers and begin wrapping the wire around the loop to form a spiral.
- Stop when there’s about 10mm of wire left uncurled.
- At the end of the spiral, use your twirly wirlies again to create a small loop for attaching.
✅ Tip: Crimping pliers can sometimes scratch coloured wire. To avoid marks, wrap the jaws of your pliers in electrical tape before use.
Step 3: Assemble the Earrings
- Open one loop of your beaded eye pin and attach the spiral component.
- On the opposite loop of the eye pin, attach an ear wire.
- Repeat all steps to make the second earring.
