Teal Chain Drop Necklace: Project Instructions
Heavy on the chain, this statement necklace features howlite nuggets, blister pearls, hill tribe style metal charms and more.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
- 7 blister pearls
- 12 head pins
- 5 turquoise howlite nugget beads
- 1 hill tribe style rose pendant
- 36 x 6mm strong jump rings
- 2 x 10-link brushed chain, 2 x 13-link brushed chain, 2 x 16-link brushed chain, 2 x 18-link brushed chain, 1 x 22-link brushed chain
- 10 small hill tribe style small flower charms
- 4 spring coil leather ends
- 2 x 15cm thick round leather
- 1 parrot clasp
- 1 x 39-link round loop chain
TOOLS REQUIRED
- 2 pairs of Crimping Pliers
- Twirly Wirlie Pliers
- Wire Cutters
INSTRUCTIONS
Making the components
Pick up one of blister pearls and thread it onto a head pin. Leaving a space of 10mm, cut the excess off the head pin. Twirl the end using your twirly wirlies. Repeat so that you have 7 blister pearl drops. Put aside.
Pick up one of turquoise howlite nuggets and thread it onto a head pin. Leaving a space of 10mm, cut the excess off the head pin. Twirl the end using your twirly wirlies. Repeat so that you have 5 turquoise howlite drops. Put aside.
Pick up the hill tribe style rose pendant and thread on a strong jump ring, close securely. Put aside.
Pick up one of the 10-link pieces of chain, open a strong jump ring (as they are quite strong, you will need two pairs of pliers or a jump ring tool) and thread it through the 2nd loop. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the hill tribe style small flower charms, close securely. Open up another strong jump ring and thread it through the 7th loop in the 10-link piece of chain. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the blister pearl drops, close securely. Repeat with the other 10-link piece of chain, so that you have two identical 10-link pieces of chain. Put aside.
Pick up one of the 13-link pieces of chain, open a strong jump ring and thread it through the 4th loop. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the turquoise howlite drops, close securely. Open up another strong jump ring and thread it through the 8th loop in the 13-link piece of chain. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the hill tribe style small flower charms, close securely. Repeat with the other 13-link piece of chain, so that you have two identical 13-link pieces of chain. Put aside.
Pick up one of the 16-link pieces of chain, open a strong jump ring and thread it through the 2nd loop. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the blister pearl drops, close securely. Open up another strong jump ring and thread it through the 4th loop in the 16-link piece of chain. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the hill tribe style small flower charms, close securely. Open up another strong jump ring and thread it through the 12th loop in the 16-link piece of chain. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the blister pearl drops, close securely. Repeat with the other 16-link piece of chain, so that you have two identical 16-link pieces of chain. Put aside.
Pick up one of the 18-link pieces of chain, open a strong jump ring and thread it through the 6th loop. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the turquoise howlite drops, close securely. Open up another strong jump ring and thread it through the 10th loop in the 18-link piece of chain. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the hill tribe style small flower charms, close securely. Repeat with the other 18-link piece of chain, so that you have two identical 18-link pieces of chain. Put aside.
Pick up the 22-link piece of chain, open a strong jump ring and thread it through the 9th loop. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the blister pearl drops, close securely. Open up another strong jump ring and thread it through the 13th loop in the 22-link piece of chain. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the hill tribe style small flower charms, close securely. Open up another strong jump ring and thread it through the 17th loop in the 22-link piece of chain. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the turquoise howlite drops, close securely. Open up another strong jump ring and thread it through the 18th loop in the 22-link piece of chain. Whilst it is still open, thread on one of the hill tribe style small flower charms, close securely. Put aside.
Putting it together
Pick up one of the spring coil leather ends and push the leather up into the leather end. Gently squish down the wire end furtherest from the loop, spiking the leather. Repeat with all the leather ends until you have two pieces of leather with a leather end on both sides.
One one end of one of the pieces of leather, thread on a strong jump ring. Whilst it's open, thread on a parrot clasp. Close securely. On the other end of the leather, thread on a strong jump ring. Whilst it's still open, thread on one end of the 39-link piece of chain, close securely.
Open up another strong jump ring and thread through the other end of the 39-link piece of chain. Whilst it's still open, thread it through one end of the other piece of leather, close securely. Open up another strong jump ring and thread through the other end of the piece of leather. Close securely.
Open up a strong jump ring and thread through the 4th link in the (now attached) 39-link piece of chain. Whilst it's still open, thread on one of the 10-link pieces of chain, close securely. Open another jump ring and thread through the 36th link in the 39-link piece of chain. Whilst it's still open, thread on the other 10-link piece of chain, close securely.
Open up a strong jump ring and thread through the 8th link in the 39-link piece of chain. Whilst it's still open, thread on one of the 13-link pieces of chain, close securely. Open another jump ring and thread through the 32nd link in the 39-link piece of chain. Whilst it's still open, thread on the other 13-link piece of chain, close securely.
Open up a strong jump ring and thread through the 12th link in the 39-link piece of chain. Whilst it's still open, thread on one of the 16-link pieces of chain, close securely. Open another jump ring and thread through the 28th link in the 39-link piece of chain. Whilst it's still open, thread on the other 16-link piece of chain, close securely.
Open up a strong jump ring and thread through the 16th link in the 39-link piece of chain. Whilst it's still open, thread on one of the 18-link pieces of chain, close securely. Open another jump ring and thread through the 24th link in the 39-link piece of chain. Whilst it's still open, thread on the other 18-link piece of chain, close securely.
Open up a strong jump ring and thread through the 20th link in the 39-link piece of chain. Whilst it's still open, thread on the 22-link piece of chain, the hill tribe style rose pendant, close securely. Your necklace is now ready to wear!
