Caramel Swirls Simple Black Necklace: Project Instructions

Caramel Swirls Simple Black Necklace: Project Instructions

Large black and caramel swirl lampwork beads provide the focus for this necklace. We have changed things up, and used the toggle clasp at the front; this serves two purposes - it looks great as a focal, and makes the necklace easier to do up!

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 60cm of tigertail
  • 1 flower toggle clasp
  • 10 x 6mm jump rings
  • 1 x 9 links chain, 1 x 4 links chain, 1 x 2 links chain
  • 2 small crimps
  • 3 head pins
  • 2 large holed filigree metal tubes
  • 44 small star bead caps
  • 18 x 3mm plain metal beads
  • 12 x 8mm round faceted glass crystal beads
  • 10 black/caramel swirls flat oval glass lampwork beads

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Twirly Wirlie Pliers
  • Wire Cutters
  • Crimping Pliers

INSTRUCTIONS

Take the piece of tigertail and thread through a small crimp. Thread through a jump ring, then back through the crimp. Pull up tightly, squish down your crimp and cut off any excess tigertail. Thread on one of your large holed filigree metal tubes (to hide the crimp).

Thread on:

  • a small star bead cap
  • an 8mm round faceted glass crystal
  • a small star bead cap
  • a plain metal bead
  • a small star bead cap
  • a black/caramel swirls flat oval glass lampwork bead
  • a small star bead cap
  • a plain metal bead

Repeat pattern another 8 times, until you have 9 black/caramel swirls flat oval glass lampwork beads on your strand. Finish by threading on a small star bead cap, followed by an 8mm round faceted glass crystal and a small star bead cap.

Thread on the other large holed filigree metal tube, followed by the second small crimp. Thread through a jump ring, then back through the crimp. Pull up tightly, squish down your crimp and cut off any excess tigertail.

Open up another jump ring and thread through the jump ring on one end of your strand. Whilst it's still open, thread on the bar part of the toggle clasp. Close securely.

Open up the jump ring on the other end of the strand. Thread on the flower part of the toggle clasp (thread through the little loop on the back of the clasp), and close securely. Put aside your necklace for the time being.

Pick up one of the head pins and thread on:

  • a small star bead cap
  • an 8mm round faceted glass crystal bead
  • a small star bead cap

Leaving a space of 10mm, cut the excess off the head pin. Twirl the end using your twirly wirlies. Repeat so that you have two crystal drops. Put aside.

Pick up another head pin and thread on:

  • a small star bead cap
  • a black/caramel swirls flat oval glass lampwork bead
  • a small star bead cap

Leaving a space of 10mm, cut the excess off the head pin. Twirl the end using your twirly wirlies. Put aside.

Pick up the 9-link chain. Open up a jump ring and attach to one end of the chain, and thread on one of the smaller crystal drops. Close securely. Open up another jump ring and attach to the other end of the chain and join to the bottom of the flower toggle clasp. Close securely.

Pick up the 4-link chain. Open up another jump ring and attach to one end of the chain and thread on the larger lampwork drop. Close securely. Open up another jump ring and attach to the other end of the chain and join to the bottom of the flower toggle clasp. Close securely.

Finally, pick up the 2-link chain. Open up another jump ring and attach to one end of the chain and thread on the other small crystal drop. Close securely. Open up another jump ring and attach to the other end of the chain and join to the bottom of the flower toggle clasp. Close securely. Your necklace is now ready to wear!
