Sparkly Reindeer Crystal Christmas Decoration: Project Instructions

Handmade from crystal, glass beads and findings, this reindeer is a perfect decoration for the Christmas tree. Follow our free beading instructions to make your own Christmas ornament, or as a sparkly decoration to hang in the window.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

• 1 x 50x30mm clear pear shaped crystal suncatcher (head)
• 1 x 8mm red rondelle crystal glass bead (nose)
• 1 x 4mm red round glass crystal (centre of rose/wreath)
• 2 x 15mm amber spear shaped Czech drops (ears)
• 2 x 11mm green glass leaves (wreath)
• 1 x 11mm red aluminum rose glass (wreath)
• 2 x 7 strand silver multi-strand findings (antlers)
• 2 x 9mm googly eyes
• 25cm of 26 gauge beading wire
• 1 x 50mm eyepin

TOOLS REQUIRED

• Wire Cutters
• Twirly Wirlie Pliers
• E6000 Glue

INSTRUCTIONS

Pick up the wire and bend gently so that it is almost in half. Thread on the 4mm red crystal to the bend. Pull both ends through the front of the red metal rose till the crystal drops to the centre of the rose.

Place the two silver multi-strand finding on the table so that they make a horseshoe shape with the bottom holes overlapping each other. Thread the two wires from the back of the rose through the bottom holes of the multi-strand findings.

Separate the wires and wind each one around the multi-strand findings going opposite directions to give it strength and ending at the front near the rose.

Thread on one green leaf either side and cross behind the rose.

Bring the two wires together at the back of the antlers and thread through the top hole of the pear shaped crystal suncatcher, putting the antlers in front of the hole.

Split the wires and put an amber spear shaped Czech drop on each one then bring the wire around and back through the hole behind the antlers. Straighten up the “ears’ so that they sit to the sides of the “head”.

Gently pull the wire tight and then fashion a loop at the top and twitch it off very gently. Cut off any excess.

Using a fine nozzle, put a 3 drops of E6000 glue on your reindeer head at the eye and nose points. Put a drop of glue on the back of each of the eyes and the red crystal “nose” bead. Allow 3 minutes to get tacky then put into place. Give your reindeer 48 hours to fully dry.

Use an eyepin to fashion a large S hook for hanging your sparkly crystal reindeer.
